Some GPS and writing tips....

These posters are helpful to remind you of our GPS learning:

Remember that a co-ordinating conjunction links two main clauses and a subordinating conjunction links a main clause to a subordinate clause

Lucy walked.      MAIN CLAUSE
Lucy walked and Rachael scooted.    2 MAIN CLAUSES (LINKED WITH A CO-ORDINATING CONJUNCTION)
Lucy walked as the rain poured down.   MAIN CLAUSE + SUBORDINATE CLAUSE (LINKED WITH A SUBORDINATING CONJUNCTION)
Without an umbrella, Lucy walked as the rain poured down.  PHRASE + MAIN CLAUSE + SUBORDINATE CLAUSE.

Please remember that this is not just for recalling in tests but APPLYING in your writing!

Spellings:

Please go over all words taught this term, especially common exception words.  Yellow spelling books and previous homeworks will come home on Friday.
