Next week we will be completing some simple in class assessments.  These should not be stressful for the children or need large amounts of revision but are helping us to assess how much they have learnt so far this year and what we need to teach next. The best preparation for tests is that your child works hard every day in class, completes their homework and reads every day!  However, they may want to also do the following:

Revise  all the spellings taught so far this year -cious/ tious, -cial/ -tial, -ible/ -able and the common exception word list (rhythm, immediately, conscience etc). The children were told that if they don’t have a record of the spellings that they have done at home then they should take home their yellow spelling books for the weekend.

They could also go over parts of speech (determiner, noun, adjective, verb, adverb, preposition, conjunction, pronoun) and the difference between clauses and phrases.

This website might be useful, although we have only covered some of this grammar content at this point in the year!
