English:
- We have been focusing on our comprehension skills (vocabulary, inference, predictions, explanations, retrieval and summarising) by analysing a picture linked to our topic.
- We have continued reading Letters From the Lighthouse and used inference and retrieval skills to describe one of the main characters.
- We have used our retrieval skills to find out how World War 2 began and then created a timeline.
- Spellings- testing of the -cious/ tious pattern (scores are in your child´s homework diary). Introduction of -cial and -tial for next week.
Homework:
- Learn tial/cial pattern and complete handwriting and spelling practice activities.
- Read to page 33 of LFTL
Maths
- Reading and writing numbers up to 10 million
- Comparing and ordering numbers to 10 million
- Rounding numbers to required degree of accuracy (nearest 10, 100, 1000, 10 000 etc)
- Using negative numbers and calculating intervals across zero (using temperature, for example)
Homework:
- Reasoning and problem solving for rounding numbers (to be handed in by Wednesday 18th Sep)
Science
- A basic introduction to electricity and what electricity is (atoms, electrons, protons, neutrons, free electrons)
