EVACUEE DAY
Here are a few photos from our Evacuee Day on Monday. The children came dressed up in 1940s dress (as did the teachers!) and all of the children were given an identity label with their new (typically British) name. We performed some drama activities that helped us to understand what the children would have gone through. Later in the day we completed a rationing Maths activity and then baked cookies using rationed goods. In the afternoon we kept our spirits up by singing wartime songs such as ´It´s a long way to Tipperary!´. Finally we finished by making poppies, a symbol of remembrance for those who have fought for and protected their countries across the world.
